This evening was a celebration of 128 years of Lutheran education in the Portland area. Many educators who have been in that ministry were in attendance. See Photos in ‘Read More.’

Thanks to all who helped in so many ways to make this annual funding event a lovely evening for our guests.  Over 60 (church and school volunteers, PTO decorators and dessert makers, vendors, office staff, Jr choir, speakers, Thrivent) were acknowledged with thank you notes for their direct involvement!

Trinity’s Junior Choir performed and Katie (Lorenz) de Villiers, 1992 Trinity alum, now Assistant US Attorney moderated a panel of Lutheran school educators, Katy Sievert, Rod Wegener, Don Jones and Kate Bergdolt. Mistress of Ceremonies, Marsha Wolfe, and parent, Louis Fontenot were at the podium, adding to the fun of the evening!

It was a special coincidence that Lowell Hinrich, son of the woman who in 1978 carved the front panel of the PLS lectern/podium that we have been using, came that evening. He took the lectern with his mother’s artwork home to be placed in a chapel on his property in Canada.  What a delightful surprise.

In addition to those who gave of the their time and talents, we have received monetary gifts from alums, members and friends of Trinity.  These funds came after a special appeal letter was sent in December or in response to invitations or from attendees who were reminded about the blessings of a Lutheran education ministry for our children in the past and for the future.
