Your Trinity Lutheran School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) wants to thank all of the students and parents who participated in this year’s fundraising efforts! Here’s the facts:
- $9305.97 has been raised in fundraising activities this year. Of this amount, $5800 has gone to pay for each child’s field trips. We have also spent money on TLS community events, Assemblies, classroom parties and other give-away items and supplies.
- To date we have about $2500 left in the budget to make a dent in wish list items from the teachers and students like iPads, library updates including books, classroom manipulatives, supplementary curriculum and much more! (the wish list is LONG)
Parents, take a bow! We know that our financial partnership with the school is necessary and the benefactors are our kids! We also know that it requires your support to make fundraising a priority! So to those of you who have supported our efforts, we thank you!
Here’s another number that we need to share with you:
- Only 56% of students participated in fundraising this year
We have had many conversations about how to enlist every student to participate in fundraising and one thing that has become clear to us this year is that our financial partnership isn’t very visible to the students and parents of TLS. In light of this realization, we voted to stop funding field trips because it has historically consumed between 60-85% of our annual budget and it’s less noticeable than meeting the wish lists of our students and teachers.
Right after we made this decision, we became aware of upcoming tuition increases for next year and so we decided that we would extend our funding of field trips for one additional year with a slight change in how field trips are funded.
The Twilight Tiger Run proved to be a huge fundraising success this year, so we have slated that as our marked fundraiser to fund field trips for the 2014-2015 school year. The change will be that every student will need to raise a minimum of $50 for the Twilight Tiger Run in order to fund their own field trips. Whatever balance is not acquired in fundraising will need to be paid by the parent of that child. Any additional funds raised for that event will go to providing wish list items for the school.
This has been a rebuilding year for the PTO and we are pleased with the efforts we have all made this year toward solidifying our partnership with the school. We see this coming year as a foundational step toward making the financial aspect of our partnership more visible! We welcome each parent, grandparent or guardian to attend PTO meetings, give suggestions, lead events that you’d like to see happen and work with us as we support the enrichment of our school!
